Nobles, Ladies and Friends:
It is indeed a great honor for me to be elected to serve as
Potentate of Melha Shrine for 2008. I thank all the Nobles, who have
supported me as a Divan member and now as Potentate of this GREAT
organization. Your Divan and I are dedicated and committed to
continue working in harmony to insure that Melha prospers during
this year.
I would like to thank Ill. Kirk and his Divan for a good year of family interests and friendship within our units and Shrine clubs. Membership is our number one priority at Melha as we begin a new Shrine year. Our objective is to have a positive increase in total members for the year. Closely related to membership will be our public relations program that will focus on a positive and informative aspect of Shrine activities.
My Lady Pat and I invite you and your Lady to join us at Chez Josef for the Potentate’s Reception on Saturday, February 23, 2008. A Shrine-casual Dinner Dance featuring “After All” for your dancing pleasure will be held on Friday, February 22, 2008 in the Butterfield Auditorium at the Melha Shrine Center. Please make your reservations early.
When tragedy struck, with the untimely passing of our Oriental Guide, Jim Garvey, Melha was fortunate to have two Nobles ready and willing to accept the commitment and duties of our nine-year Divan line. David Butterfield and Brian Connor are excellent examples of what we need to prosper and grow, I am very proud to have appointed them to our Divan line.
I would like to thank my installing suite, namely, Ill. Sir Allen Zippin and Imperial Sir Ralph Semb for their usual outstanding performance, also my Shrine family/friends for passing out the fezzes and jewels.
Pat and I had a great time at the Legion of Honor Past Commanders/Ladies Dinner Dance, the Legion of Honor means so much to me, thank you for giving me a Life Membership and my Potentate’s Fez and so much support during my rise to Potentate, it was an honor to make my debut as Potentate with my own unit! The combination of Dick, Dick and Moe made this night exciting and informative. The Clown installation was definitely put on by a bunch of clowns!!! Great Fun!!! Congratulations to the outgoing Chief “Fireball” for a good year and Welcome to the new Chief “Doc”. Thank you again for inviting the Divan and their Ladies, we all needed a break from our serious side. By the way, I take a size 9-1/2 shoe, in case anyone is interested.
The Divan and I thank each of you for your confidence in electing us to lead, guide and direct Melha Shrine in 2008 and we will need your continued support.
REMEMBER:
Without You! There Is NO Melha!
Yours in the Faith
James Blevins, Potentate
